Fr. Patrick McPartland


Fr. Patrick McPartland grew up in Irvington and Linden. He attended 12 years of Catholic Schools. His mother and his three sisters live in New Jersey.

Fr. Pat earned a Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering) from Rutgers University in 1995; a Master of Science (Mechanical Engineering) from University of Pennsylvania in 2002.

He worked as an engineer for 8 years including being a Combat Systems Engineer for the display system of the Aegis Weapon System at Lockheed Martin in Moorestown from 1997 to 2003.

Fr. Pat earned a Masters of Divinity in 2008 from Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall University in South Orange. He was ordained

a Roman Catholic priest for the Diocese of Trenton in May 2008 and was assigned as a parochial vicar to St. Joseph’s Church in Toms River and Chaplain to Monsignor Donovan High School from 2008 to 2013.

In February 2013, he was commissioned as a U.S. Navy Chaplain. In November 2013, Chaplain McPartland reported to USS America LHA-6 as deputy chaplain. The ship completed a transit around South America to its homeport in San Diego. USS America was commissioned in October 2014 in San Francisco.

In April 2016, Chaplain McPartland was appointed to serve at the

United States Naval Academy. Until April 2019, he served as a Battalion Chaplain supporting Midshipmen studying to be Naval Officers

including about 35% who were Catholic. He was honorably discharged

on April 25, 2019.
