St. Catharine’s Church does not have a hospital within the church boundaries and so we are not required to serve there every day. But, we do assist with bringing communion to any and all Catholics who are confined to Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel on Wednesday mornings.
Eighteen parishioners have been bringing communion to Catholics at Bayshore for many years and we find it to be a very rewarding ministry. It is not only a privilege to bring the Body of Christ to our brothers and sisters who are unable to attend Mass, it is very rewarding to visit so many Catholics who are looking to find comfort in the Blessed Sacrament. Many times the people we visit have not been to Mass for quite some time and, after receiving Christ in the Eucharist, through the power of the Holy Spirit, they return to church attendance.
