Then Jesus approached the eleven disciples and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always to the end of the age.” Matt.28:18-20
Baptism Initiative – Pope Francis has commented a number of times about the importance of knowing your baptism date. Do you know yours?
Here, at the Church of St. Catharine, beginning in September of 2015 and (hopefully) continuing forever, we present each newly baptized child with a Catholic Baptism Bible. The intention behind this is to have the families of our newest Catholics share the stories of salvation history in informative and entertaining story form. We support this effort with Advent , Lenten, and Easter e-mails to point to the stories that are most relevant during those liturgical seasons.
In addition we use our Parishsoft Database to send out Baptism Birthday Cards on the first through 12th anniversary of each child’s baptism. The cards were created with original artwork by a few of our creative parishioners.
This is an expensive and time-consuming process. But it is completely underwritten by the generous donations of parishioners and our St. Andrew’s Men’s Group.
This initiative is new, but it is already generating positive comments.
Welcoming – Most people think of Welcoming as greeters at the doors. We haven’t yet developed and trained our greeters. But, they are something in the near future.
For right now we are processing a number of unique initiatives that will build upon our already warm and welcoming parish.
