“God has not abandoned us and is present among us.”
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M.

It’s “Back to Church” Time, Too!

It’s “back to school” time, where our children enter a new grade or new school and get back into the routine of learning after summer reprieve. There are so many good things going on here in September. The Preschool is open. Fall Religious Education is starting soon. The parish picnic is almost here.

It is also “back to Church” time for us. It’s a time to get back into the habit of attending Sunday mass as individuals and families. Many of us got into the habit of watching online out of necessity, and simply lost the Sunday routine. As Catholics, Sunday is the Lord’s Day. The 4th commandment tells us to set aside this one day per week for the Lord: for rest, for prayer, for Church. And I like adding, for family time.

As we get back into the school year routine, let us encourage one another, and those new to the area, to also get back into the Church routine. We know it is good for us to take time each Sunday. So, let’s get back into the holy Rhythm of making our Sunday the Lord’s Day!

Fr. Pat

Blessing of Animals, October 2

In October, we celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, one of the best-known saints. His life of devotion to Christ was shown by his willingness to live a life of poverty, prayer and loving service to others. Tradition holds that St. Francis had a special love of animals—God’s creatures.

In honoring this tradition, we will have
Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 2 at 1:00 pm
in the Church parking lot.

Annual Catholic Appeal

As of June 27, a total of 328 St. Catharine parishioners have pledged $135,136 which is 82% of our goal of $165,000. We have the last half of the year to raise an additional $30,000 to meet our goal and if we do, St. Catharine will get a $24,750 rebate from the Diocese. Last year at this time, we were at 75% of our goal and we did not meet it. If we get enough additional parishioners to participate in these last six months, we can meet our goal! We thank everyone who has contributed so generously. If you have not yet contributed, please give serious consideration to participating. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Bob Buus at 732-946-8615 or and keep up the good work!

Doing Our Part to Keep Our Community Safe

We are always concerned for the safety and well-being of all who enter our doors. Much thought and prayer has gone into decisions that will affect those coming into our church. We ask that all parishioners care for one another in the spirit of Christian charity.

Masks are encouraged! It is your choice!

Ushers will be available to assist you with seating. Hand sanitizer will remain available.

Thank you ahead of time for all your cooperation!

If you have any concerns, please call the parish office at 732-842-3963.
