The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick offers both forgiveness and healing to those who are ill. It is through the sacramental rite led by a priest and the anointing with the blessed oil, that we pray for the sick person’s healing in body, mind, and spirit. 
All Baptized members who have reached the age of reason and who are:

• in danger of a serious illness
• suffering ongoing or chronic illness or addiction
• preparing for surgery
• suffering serious mental health problems
• anyone whose health is seriously impaired by sickness
• anyone who is in danger of death

may receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. 
 
The Sacrament of the Sick is both “a liturgical and a communal celebration.”   The sacrament may be celebrated in the family home, hospital, or church.  The church encourages family & friends to be present for the ritual as it can inspire and comfort both those who are ill and their family and friends who are gathered.
