The ministry of the Cantor is a rewarding one.  Cantors lead the assembly in song and in doing so, assist in the worship and prayer of the church.  The important qualities for a cantor to possess are leadership and enthusiasm, along with willingness to serve.  A marvelous voice is NOT important – only the willingness to gift back to God the voice with which He has gifted you.  Anyone of high-school age and up is invited to join this ministry.  Training is provided, and support from the music ministry is always available – no special skill set (even music reading!) is needed.

As a cantor, you set your own schedule of service by informing the music ministry which Masses you are available for on a monthly basis.  Opportunities are available for anything from one Mass per month to one Mass per week, all dependent on your wishes.

High-school students wishing to join the ministry of the Cantor can receive community service hours for their work both in rehearsal and at Mass.

If you are interested in joining this wonderful ministry, please contact our director of liturgical music, Patrick Dalton, at or at 732-617-9419
