Prayer Shawl Ministry
“You created every part of me, knitting me in my Mother’s womb. For such handiwork, I praise you. Awesome this great wonder!” (Psalm 139:13-14)
What We Do
The mission of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is to gather to knit and crochet prayer shawls and lap blankets. As we create the shawls, we pray for blessings of comfort, strength, patience, healing and protection, hope, grace and peace for those who will receive them.
During each meeting, loving hearts and hands—from novice to expert—pray and knit or crochet a shawl or lap blanket for someone in need of comfort in God’s love. Twice a year completed shawls are blessed during a Binding Ceremony. Our handmade shawls are available, free of charge, for anyone who requests one.
They can be used for someone undergoing a medical procedure, as a comfort after a loss, during bereavement, prayer or meditation, for engaged couples, marriages, bridal or baby showers, for expectant mothers, births or nursing mothers, for senior citizens or shut-ins, during illness and recovery, for cancer patients, when ministering to others. The possibilities are endless!
